Whananaki is a quiet beach town that feels like an untouched secret paradise. The retreat has been designed to accommodate up to 16 guests, making it a perfect space for family holidays and small groups.

  • Whananaki offers endless ways to enjoy the coast. Swim, kayak, or paddleboard on the estuary, cast a line, take the boat out, or go for the classic wharf jump. Wander across the Southern Hemisphere’s longest footbridge, tackle a scenic hike, or dive into clear blue waters.

    With beaches just minutes away, you can picnic under the pōhutukawa trees on a quiet beach or catch a wave at a surf beach or the famous Whananaki Bar. There’s even a hidden lagoon, but you’ll need a local tip to find it.

    Whether you're up for adventure or just want to kick back at the bach and watch the tide roll in, Whananaki has something for everyone.

  • Our retreat offers luxury and year-round comfort. Warm and cozy in winter, and in summer, just open the double doors to let the sea breeze flow through. Designed with high-end finishes, every detail ensures you’ll want for nothing.

    The house features two dwellings, each with three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a lounge, connected by a covered walkway. The main house brings everyone together with its spacious open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchen area.

    Each bedroom features air conditioning and luxurious linens, while the living areas are stocked with board games, jigsaws, a library, and a movie projector—thoughtful touches of luxury throughout.

    With stunning surroundings and endless activities, Whananaki Beach Retreat is the ultimate coastal escape.

  • The house offers all of these extras free of charge.

    • Toy shed, offering paddle boards, kayaks and body boards for fun in the water.

    • Movie projector screen for movie nights with the kids

    • Fire Pit centred around an outdoor lounge area.

    • Library- stocked with books, games and jigsaws.

    • Kitchen- a specialty tap with soda, chilled and boiling water.

    • All rooms have air conditioning and blockout curtains.

    • Hot Tub. This can be arranged separately to the booking, as is seasonal.

  • The retreat is not serviced during your stay, it is a self check in/out service.

    When you have a confirmed booking, you will receive a House Guide ahead of your stay. This will have all information on how to self-access the property.

    Due to the location of Whananaki, we won’t be able to offer an in-person service.

  • We know that a group holiday can be stressful to organise particularly for a large number of people attending.
